I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute at the University of Gothenburg. I received my PhD in Political Science from UW-Madison in 2015, an AM in Regional Studies: Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia from  Harvard University in 2009, and a BA in German with a concentration in Linguistics from Grinnell College in 2005.

My research interests include identity politics, separatism, survey research and latent variable modeling. I have conducted research in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
